Conversation I had with Rebecca the other day:

Duh4evr: you can do it!
Duh4evr: I believe in you!
phoenixgirl84: take over the world? eat this whole pile of chocolate? or, more likely, get all my work done?
Duh4evr: yeah, survive finals
Duh4evr: you said you need help in your lj so I'm cheering you on
phoenixgirl84: thank you
Duh4evr: ha ha ha, Kari taking over the world
Duh4evr: that's afunny thought
phoenixgirl84: *crosses Rebecca off list of Generals of her army*
phoenixgirl84: :-)
Duh4evr: it reminds me of the simpsons halloween episode where the space aliens are elected president and they take over the world, I would imagine if you were to come into power, the world would be like if space aliens took over
Duh4evr: that totally came out wrong
phoenixgirl84: im trying to figure out how a statement about space aliens could possible come out right
Duh4evr: I mean, if you ruled the world, it wouldn't be a temocratic society, you would rule and your word would be law and that would be it
Duh4evr: I could see you sending a lot of people to death for punishment
phoenixgirl84: oh yeah...they'd be fun and creative deaths too, like death by having your face sat on by a sheep or death by having to dance to britney spears until your body gives out
Duh4evr: I wouldn't want to die like that
phoenixgirl84: well that means you'll just have to be loyal to my regime, won't you?
Duh4evr: of course, why would I go against the law of Kari?
phoenixgirl84: i don't know, you seem smart enough not to
phoenixgirl84: besides, i give cookies
Duh4evr: ummm, ohh man, I'd give my right hand for a cookie right now

My dear friend [info]autumnchestnut and I have decided that since we are both graduating at the end of this school year (me in May and she in June), that we will undertake the reading of all 37 of Shakespeare's plays (and possibly some sonnets too). Our conundrum, however, is that there are many orders in which we could read this lovely plays, and need to decide one of them.

Our suggestions so far have been: reading them in the order they were published, alternating between comedy, history and tragedy in alphabetical order (i.e. listing each genre alphabetically and then reading the first comedy, the first history and the first tragedy, and then moving on to the second on each list), reading them from longest play to shortest play (with some modifications so that sequels aren't read before the original play), or both getting the same edition of the complete works and reading from front cover to back cover.

I am resisting the last option slightly, mostly because my tiny hands have problems holding huge books open for me to read for long periods at a time. Although we are not starting for another 8 months or so, I'm thinking about it now, and so I give you a poll.

...or I would give you a poll if I had paid time on this account anymore. So! you should go to my other journal and vote in the poll. Yay!

So lately me+Betsy=CRACK! I like the Betsycrack, it makes me happy. Behold the evidence of some of our crack in a conversation between Betsy and Wee Megan following Betsy and I watching Love's Labour's Lost (which everyone should watch, because it is very funny and there is singing). There is also a tiny contribution from Steve, see if you can spot it.

MoshiMoshi70x7: how was the movie?
dwixer: dandy
dwixer: we got a band name
dwixer: what do you think...
dwixer: the lickable dimples
MoshiMoshi70x7: lianna has a horrid expression on her face
dwixer: lol
MoshiMoshi70x7: who is the band? you and kari?
dwixer: yes
MoshiMoshi70x7: what is kari in the band?
dwixer: mime
MoshiMoshi70x7: that sounds...interesting
MoshiMoshi70x7: is anyone else in this band?
dwixer: no
MoshiMoshi70x7: i wish you the best success
dwixer: thank you
dwixer: free cd for you
MoshiMoshi70x7: how will kari be represented on the cd?
dwixer: chimes
dwixer: she's a chime mime
MoshiMoshi70x7: i see you've planned this out quite thoroughly
dwixer: not really
MoshiMoshi70x7: why is everyone dying?
dwixer: wtf?
MoshiMoshi70x7: why is everyone dying? everyone around is sick...so i ask a valid question
dwixer: evil genes

And there you go.

PS. EEEEEEEEE! (That's dolphin for thank you.)

I haven't used this thing in forever, and god knows if I'll use it often/ever again, but oh well.

Having a somewhat surreal experience being back at Beloit. Everyone else I've talked to has been much better expressing how it feels than I've been, so I'll just say that it feels distinctly odd in a very familiar way. It's weird thinking of all the people I know that are gone, or that I don't know that are here. Both of those far outnumber the people I do know that are here, even if I include people I just recognize but don't know personally.

I also have a pretty craptastic schedule on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Especially Tuesdays. I have an 8 am Geology class, Genetics, Genetics lab, and an evening English class, so I don't get out until 9 pm. I go that late on Thursdays, too, but at least then I don't start until noon (although I have four hours of class in a row to make up for it). Blech.

Maybe I should be a hermit when I grow up. Sounds kinda fun.

Holiday wish list meme

Rules behind the cut )

1. To be able to go home for Christmas.
2. icons for my lj and gj that are very 'me'
3. HP, BtVS/AtS or X-Men fic and art
4. pictures and letters from my friends
5. Jude Law...ok, just kidding
the real 5. books, any books I don't have, I'm a reading whore
6. Road to El Dorado on DVD
7. for my brother to stay with my mom for Christmas
8. a Beloit puppy pile
9. recordings of songs by Betsy or Rebecca or any of my other talented friends
10.world peace

So I know I won't get world peace, but I still want it damnit. Just like I want a pony. And unless someone has a ticket from Glasgow to Baltimore laying around, I won't be going home either. But that's okay. Smaller presents are good too. My email is karibean (at) gmail (dot) com for anyone that needs my mailing address. Which might turn out to be Chesty's address if you want me to get something on Christmas Day.

So, I now have money to spend for my birthday, and although I'll probably save some to spend in Frankfurt, the rest will probably be for books and cds.

So now all of you have to recommend books that I should read and/or buy that you think I probably haven't read already.

As I was searching on Amazon.com for books I might like, I realized there's quite a few non-fiction books I would like, all clearly liberal. And then I realized that I should probably read more conservative books as well, just to try to understand the 'other side' and see where each author might be right and/or wrong. But then I realized that although I may want to consider the validity of these people's opinions, I did not want to support them with my money, as that money would inevitably end up supporting causes I don't support. And the libraries here are kind of crap (not including the uni library). So I will probably have to wait until I get back to the states to read any of those. Ah well.

It has been a while since I've updated, but I've been busy with school work and all that fun stuff. I turned in my paper for my presessional class a little over a week ago, so I am done with that class. So far I am doing well in Gaelic, but I do not know how I am doing in Neuroscience or Microorganisms as we have not had any assessed work in those classes yet. My first Micro test is this Friday, and my first Neuro test is next Thursday, so we will see how those go.

I have recently been planning the two weeks in March when Mom shall be visiting, as we are going to be doing quite a bit of traveling. We are going to Amsterdam as well as Ireland, and I will be taking her to places in and around Glasgow as well as over to Edinburgh. I also need to start planning my Christmas hols as well. My plans mostly hinge on my friend Michelle getting permission from her mother for me to stay with them for Christmas, otherwise I might be having Christmas with my flatmate Melody and her family. Hopefully I'll be able to visit my friend Sophie as well, and there's a chance of me going home with my flatmate Eirinn to Norway for a few days if I can manage it. I do have to remember to leave time to study though, as I have exams in January when I return from break.

We are having a big Halloween party in our flat on the 30th, which should be a lot of fun. Eirinn and I are dressing up as Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, mostly so I can use my new lab coat, heh. The party is also partly for Blathnaid and Eirinn's birthdays, who are within a couple days of the party.

Well, I have to go to class now, will update more when I have time.

Hey all, I'm in London. Don't have much time, and the internet isn't that great here. But hey, had a fun day with Chesty and Caroline and I'm looking forward to lots of sleep tonight. Hope you all are having fun wherever you may be. *smooches* to everyone

Right.

Was gone all weekend on fabulous trip to The Burn House in northeastern Scotland (Aberdeenshire I believe). It rocked hardcore.

I start presessionals tomorrow, although I only have about 2 hours of class a day for the next three weeks, which is great. Caroline and I are planning many fun things for this week.

For heavily detailed entries on my exploits here in Scotland, read my other journal, [info]ochayeland. EDIT: Please note this is a journal that my family are reading, so don't put anything I wouldn't want my Grandma to read, okay? If you have doubts as to what my Grandma would find acceptable, assume she won't and email me with the comment instead. Or leave it here. Thanks muchly.

In fun time news: I drank an entire bottle of wine on Friday night and still managed to play table tennis. I so rock.

Right. So I'm leaving tomorrow, and I'm getting this I just want to curl up in my bed and sleep until I'm there kind of feeling. I have lots left to do, but absolutely no motivation or energy to do it. Which means my mother will probably yell at me when she gets home. Oh Joy.

Anyway, the real purpose of this entry is to say hey, I'm leaving, so I'll be unavailable internet wise for a few days. Hope you don't miss me too much.

Entry numero uno

So, my first entry in my new journal...

Countdown: 4 days until I leave for Glasgow
5 days until I get there
87 days until my birthday
124 days until Christmas with Chesty
10 months until I even think of coming back

I've started getting all my stuff together so I can pack it in my suitcases on Thursday. Mom is probably going to send a box or two to me with some kitchen stuff and a couple sweaters or something so I don't have to try to fit it all in my two suitcases. As of yet I do not know where I will be staying for the first day or two, but they should be emailing me back to let me know today or tomorrow.

My last day of work is on Wednesday, and I go in late each day. Have a dentist's appointment this morning while Caitlin is at therapy, and she has a doctor's appointment tomorrow and therapy again on Wednesday. I will be attempting to see Megan, Jen, and Joe this week before I leave, especially Jen as she has a pair of my pants that I would like to take with me.

Most if not all of you who may read this are going back to school soon or have already (except you damn Brits who don't start for a long time), so good luck, eat lots of pizza, and Beloiters: take lots and LOTS of pictures for me. I don't want to miss out on the action.
